Ethereum Developers Tease Major Step Ahead of Deneb Release
Ethereum ACDE Hints at Devnet #10 Launch
In preparation for the Deneb-Cancun upgrade, Ethereum developers are teasing the launch of Devnet #10. This devnet is likely to be the final one before the upgrade is released on public testnets like Goerli. Barnabas Busa, a DevOps engineer for Ethereum Foundation, suggests that they are waiting on client teams for new software releases before launching Devnet #10.
New Deneb Release for CL Clients
Ethereum has announced the release of a new Deneb version, v1.4.0-beta.3, for CL clients. This release, also known as “the summoning,” includes two main changes. Firstly, the formatting work necessary to finalize the output from Ethereum’s trusted setup ceremony has been completed and is now included in the most recent CL spec release. Secondly, a new gossip rule has been implemented to prevent CL nodes from transmitting more blobs than the maximum amount allowed per block. This rule ensures that validators cannot spam the network with invalid messages.
Ethereum Client Releases v4.1.0
An Ethereum client has recently released its v4.1.0 version, setting the groundwork for Deneb support. This release includes various new features such as decreasing memory with multi-value slices, optimizing block processing with EIP-4881, boosting portable build performance with BLST0.3.11, and providing live previews of multiarch containers. Although capabilities like backward syncing and filesystem-based blob storage are planned for the future, this release is a significant step forward.
