Bitcoin (BTC) Gets New Core Release: Details
Bitcoin (BTC), the first and largest cryptocurrency, has recently received a new core version release. The latest Core version v26.0 is now available for download from the official Bitcoin Core website, offering various new features, bug fixes, and performance improvements, as well as updated translations.
One of the notable changes in the latest release is the addition of experimental support for the v2 transport protocol defined in BIP324, which brings P2P and network changes to the platform. Additionally, nodes now have the capability to actively try to establish at least one outbound connection to each network, improving resistance to eclipse and partition attacks.
The release also introduces a new RPC, “submitpackage,” allowing users to submit a list of raw hex transactions to the mempool for evaluation. Furthermore, the ability to create legacy wallets has been removed in this version.
Following the release of Bitcoin Core version 25.0 in May, the latest update emphasizes the continuous development and enhancement of the Bitcoin network.
Bitcoin (BTC) can now be used to pay taxes in Lugano
The Swiss city of Lugano has joined the growing list of government organizations in Switzerland that accept cryptocurrency for the payment of taxes, fines, and other municipal invoices. Individuals and organizations can settle their bills in Bitcoin or the stablecoin by scanning a QR code, which is now available on regular Swiss invoices.
Lugano’s move to embrace cryptocurrency payments aligns with other Swiss regions such as the city and canton of Zug and the town of Zermatt, reflecting a progressive approach to digital currency adoption within the country.
