US Imposes Sanctions on Houthis Over Red Sea Attacks
Sanctions Against Houthis Take Effect
The U.S. Department of Treasury announced on its website that the “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” sanctions against the Houthis have officially taken effect. This move comes in response to the rebel group’s involvement in attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea. The U.S. government has escalated its efforts to combat these threats by imposing these sanctions.
Houthis Designated as Terrorist Groups
Last month, the U.S. government made the decision to include the Yemen-based rebel groups, the Houthis, in the global list of terrorist organizations. This decision was made with the aim of curbing the attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea. The move signifies a significant step in addressing the security concerns in the region.
