WTO issues ruling on US compliance with Spanish olive duties
WTO compliance ruling on Spanish olive duties
The World Trade Organization (WTO) issued a ruling on Tuesday concerning the United States’ compliance with a previous ruling on Spanish olive duties.
Compliance panel’s recommendation
The compliance panel recommended that the US align its measures with its obligations under the 1994 General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures.
Panel’s decision on countervailing duty order
However, the panel declined to recommend that the US revoke its countervailing duty order and cease imposing countervailing duties as requested by the European Union (EU).
